BOYS BASKETBALL

CLARKE CENTRAL 75, WASHINGTON 36: At Clarke Central, the Gladiators – ranked No. 7 in Class 6A – closed out their regular season with a makeup game victory over Washington and finished the season with an overall record of 20-5.

The Gladiators had five players score in double figures. Dwon Smith led Clarke Central with 13 points and was followed by Mijah Campbell (11 points), Martavius Darden (10 points), Jaiquez Smith (10 points) and Mortavious Crew (10 points).

Clarke Central, which finished 9-3 in Region 8-5A, will host the first round of the region tournament, which was set to begin Tuesday. In the first round, Flowery Branch will play Loganville at 4:30 p.m., Cedar Shoals will play Walnut Grove at 6 p.m. and the Gladiators will play Johnson at 7:30 p.m.

PRINCE AVENUE CHRISTIAN 56, RIVERSIDE MILITARY 48: At Bogart, the Wolverines closed out the regular season on a three-game winning streak and improved to 16-8 overall and 11-3 in Region 8-A.

Dalton Meeler led Prince Avenue Christian with 17 points and Will Todd chipped in 10 points.

The Wolverines will open play in the region tournament at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday against Riverside Military at Commerce.

TOWNS COUNTY 69, COMMERCE 49: At Commerce, Towns County defeated the Tigers in a play-in game for entry into the Region 8-A tournament.

Jamecus Cox led Commerce with 26 points. Jalen Dorsey added 10 points.

The Tigers complete the season at 4-22. Towns County was set to meet Athens Christian on Monday in the first round of the region tournament.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

CLARKE CENTRAL 63, WASHINGTON 28: At Clarke Central, the Gladiators ended the regular season on a high note with a victory over Johnson on Thursday and a makeup game win over Washington.

Jayla Barnett led Clarke Central with 15 points and Isis Hutchens added 11 points.

The Gladiators (9-13, 3-9 in Region 8-5A) will begin play in the region tournament at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday against Loganville at Flowery Branch.
