WINDER-BARROW 66, GAINESVILLE 41: At Winder, the Bulldoggs – ranked No. 2 in Class 6A – improved to 19-4 overall and 8-1 in Region 8-6A with a decisive victory over visiting Gainesville.
In a game where each Winder-Barrow senior scored at least five points, Olivia Nelson-Ododa led the way with 15 points and five rebounds. Latrice Perkins added 13 points and Cellia Watson tallied nine points (from three 3-pointers). Jakayla Sullivan contributed eight points and eight rebounds.
The Bulldoggs will play at 7 p.m. Friday at Habersham Central.
MADISON COUNTY 63, OCONEE COUNTY 36: At Watkinsville, the Red Raiders – ranked No. 6 in Class 4A – won their 10th consecutive game and improved to 18-5 overall and 9-0 in Region 8-4A.
Jordan Bailey led Madison County with 27 points and ADryana Maxwell chipped in 17 points.
For Oconee County, Sarah English scored nine points and Julia Peroni scored seven points.
The Red Raiders will host North Oconee at 7 p.m. Friday. Oconee County (10-15, 0-9) will play at 6 p.m. Friday at St. Pius X.
ATHENS ACADEMY 36, ATHENS CHRISTIAN 27: At Athens Academy, the Spartans – ranked No. 9 in Class A Private – claimed their eighth consecutive victory and improved to 20-3 overall and 10-2 in Region 8-A.
Maddie McClearly led Athens Academy with nine points and six rebounds. Greer Moseley had eight points and six rebounds, Meg Williams had six points and Gabby Mastandrea and Rose Bone scored five points each.
Madison Pickerel had nine points and nine rebounds for Athens Christian. Sydney Bridges chipped in eight points.
The Spartans will play at 6 p.m. Friday at Tallulah Falls. The Eagles (5-17, 3-8) were set to play Thursday at Providence Christian and will play at 6 p.m. Friday against Towns County.
CEDAR SHOALS 63, BROOKWOOD 54: At Snellville, the Jaguars had three players score in double figures as they defeated Brookwood in a non-region game and improved to 15-8.
Jeanetta Elder led Cedar Shoals with 18 points, followed by Genesis Crawley (17 points) and Laurie Thomas (14 points). Yasmen Davenport contributed eight points.
The Jaguars (7-4 in Region 8-5A) will play at 7 p.m. Friday at Loganville.
NORTH OCONEE 38, STEPHENS COUNTY 27: At Bogart, the Titans snapped a two-game losing streak with a Region 8-4A win over the Indians.
Aubrey Monroe and S.K. Kirby scored eight points each for North Oconee, while Mary Pearson, Tatum Thompson and Bella Ripley tallied seven points apiece.
The Titans (8-14, 3-6) will play at 7 p.m. Friday at Madison County.
JEFFERSON 44, ST. PIUS X 36: At Atlanta, the Dragons won their fourth game in a row with a Region 8-4A road victory over the Golden Lions.
McKenzie Tyner led Jefferson with 18 points.
The Dragons (17-6, 6-3) will host Stephens County at 7 p.m. Friday.
FLOWERY BRANCH 57, CLARKE CENTRAL 29: At Clarke Central, the Gladiators had little success in a Region 8-5A loss to Flowery Branch, ranked No. 10 in Class 5A.
Jayla Barnett led Clarke Central with 10 points.
The Gladiators (6-13, 2-9) were set to host Johnson on Thursday and will host Washington at 2 p.m. Saturday.
TALLULAH FALLS 46, COMMERCE 43: At Tallulah Falls, Jeanece Smith led the Tigers with 16 points but it wasn’t enough as Tallulah Falls prevailed in Region 8-A.
Bryanna Sanders added 10 points for Commerce.
The Tigers (8-7, 4-8) will host Prince Avenue Christian at 6 p.m. Friday.
FRANKLIN COUNTY 58, EAST JACKSON 12: At Commerce, it was a long night for the Eagles, who squared off against Franklin County, ranked No. 2 in Class 3A.
East Jackson (10-14, 1-7 in Region 8-3A) will play at 7 p.m. Friday at Jackson County.
MORGAN COUNTY 51, JACKSON COUNTY 31: At Madison, the Panthers lost for the ninth time in their last 10 games, bowing to Morgan County in Region 8-3A.
Kendal Clerici led Jackson County with six points.
The Panthers (6-16, 1-8) will host East Jackson at 7 p.m. Friday.
ELBERT COUNTY 47, OGLETHORPE COUNTY 26: At Elberton, the Patriots fell to 1-18 overall and 1-8 in Region 8-2A.
Jenna Pulliam scored 10 points for Oglethorpe County.
The Patriots will play at 7 p.m. Friday at Banks County – ranked No. 2 in Class 2A – and will host Rabun County – ranked No. 10 in Class 2A – at 5 p.m. Saturday.
LANIER 35, APALACHEE 26: At Bethlehem, Nakia Hooks scored a team-high 11 points but the Wildcats could not overcome Lanier, ranked No. 9 in Class 6A.
Briana Bryson added eight points for Apalachee.
The Wildcats (7-16, 1-8) will play at 7 p.m. Friday at Gainesville.
CLARKE CENTRSL 57, FLOWERY BRANCH 53: At Clarke Central, the Gladiators – ranked No. 7 in Class 5A – bested the Falcons in Region 8-5A.
Dwon Smith led Clarke Central – which has won six of its last seven games – with 23 points. Quamontae Monfort added nine points and eight rebounds.
The Gladiators (18-5, 8-3) were set to host Johnson on Friday and will host Washington at 3 p.m. Saturday.
ATHENS ACADEMY 60, ATHENS CHRISTIAN 42: At Athens Academy, the Spartans won their fourth consecutive game and improved to 12-9 overall and 9-4 in Region 8-A.
Lawrence Jang led Athens Academy with 20 points.
For Athens Christian (4-17, 2-10), Cameron Hardesty scored 15 points Kohl Phillips scored 13 points.
The Spartans will play at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Tallulah Falls. The Eagles were set to play Thursday at Providence Christian and will play Towns County on Friday.
MADISON COUNTY 41, OCONEE COUNTY 38: At Watkinsville, the Red Raiders won just their second Region 8-4A game of the season with a big road win over the Warriors.
Madison County had two players score in double figures – Traveon Latimore scored 13 points and Tay Cooper added 10 points. Adam Metts also had eight points.
For Oconee County, Rahul Das led all scorers with 16 points. Parker Fox had nine points and Ty Paschal chipped in eight points.
The Red Raiders (9-14, 2-7) will host North Oconee at 8:30 p.m. Friday. The Warriors (16-7, 5-5) will play at 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. Pius X, ranked No. 2 in Class 4A.
EAST JACKSON 75, FRANKLIN COUNTY 72: At Commerce, the Eagles halted a three-game losing streak with a narrow Region 8-3A victory over the Lions.
East Jackson was led in scoring by Xavier Clark, who posted 25 points. Makayl Rakestraw added 15 points and Kobe Haley contributed 12 points.
The Eagles (14-10, 4-5) will play at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Jackson County.
ELBERT COUNTY 83, OGLETHORPE COUNTY 50: At Elberton, the Blue Devils – ranked No. 8 in Class 2A – clinched the Region 8-2A championship with a lopsided win over the Patriots.
Isaac Hulin led Oglethorpe County with 15 points.
The Patriots (5-16, 3-7) were set to play Thursday at Banks County (ranked No. 10 in Class 2A) and will host Rabun County at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
MORGAN COUNTY 71, JACKSON COUNTY 41: At Madison, the Panthers couldn’t keep up in a Region 8-3A game with Morgan County, ranked No. 1 in Class 3A.
Kalib Clinton led Jackson County with 13 points and Cameron Shaw contributed 10 points.
The Panthers (3-19, 0-9) will host East Jackson at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
TALLULAH FALLS 67, COMMERCE 42: At Tallulah Falls, the Tigers saw their two-game winning streak come to an end in a Region 8-A road game.
Kyre Ware scored 12 points to lead Commerce.
The Tigers (4-20, 2-12) will host Prince Avenue Christian at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
ST. PIUS X 86, JEFFERSON 55: At Atlanta, the Golden Lions, ranked No. 2 in Class 4A and undefeated in Region 8-4A, improved to 21-3 overall and 9-0 in the league with a victory over the Dragons, who came in winners in 14 of their last 16 games.
Jefferson got 13 points from Donsha Gaither.
The Dragons (16-8, 7-2) will play at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Stephens County. St. Pius X will host Oconee County on Friday.
BROOKWOOD 67, CEDAR SHOALS 64: At Snellville, the Jaguars had three players in double figures but could not defeat Brookwood in a non-region game.
Keivaziay Ball led Cedar Shoals with 17 points, six rebounds and four assists. Tyler Johnson had 14 points and seven rebounds and Quincy Canty had 12 points and seven rebounds.
The Jaguars (9-14, 7-4 in Region 8-5A) will play at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Loganville.
LANIER 56, APALACHEE 54: At Bethlehem, the Wildcats lost their sixth game of the season by three points or less, dropping to 10-13 overall and 3-6 in Region 8-6A.
A.J. Millbrooks led the way for Apalachee with 18 points off the bench. Jamonte Wallace added 11 points, Derek Miller had nine points, 10 rebounds and three blocks, Brandon Bannis had six assists and four steals, Deron Collier had eight points and Parker Miller had four rebounds and three assists.
The Wildcats will play at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Gainesville, ranked No. 1 in Class 6A.
GAINESVILLE 77, WINDER-BARROW 44: At Winder, the Bulldogs – missing several players due to illness — dug an early hole against the Red Elephants, ranked No. 1 in Class 6A, recording 14 turnovers and trailing 28-3 at the end of the first quarter.
Freshman Jacon Marrifield led Winder-Barrow with eight points and six rebounds. Brock Landis added six points and nine rebounds.
The Bulldoggs (6-18, 2-7) will play at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Habersham Central.
