For the second straight school year, a member of North Oconee’s volleyball team signed with Georgia College & State University.
Emma Boughner is a freshman at GCSU and played in all of the Bobcats’ 32 matches last season.
On Wednesday at the North Oconee field house, Makenzie Perry had her ceremony for signing with GCSU.
“I am super excited about signing and I am so glad my friends and family were here to watch me,” Perry said. “Georgia College was always my number one school and I am super excited. They have a great volleyball program and I love the atmosphere and how it is close to home.
“I am pretty sure Emma loves it and I am super excited to go down there and be with her and make new friends with all of my teammates.”
GCSU was the only school Perry looked at.
“That is where I wanted to go,” Perry said. “I love the atmosphere. It is so pretty.”
Perry has played volleyball for around eight years.
“When I started young, I didn’t know it was going to lead to this but I am glad it did,” she said.
She has been coached by Sidney Feldman at North Oconee and played travel volleyball at A5 in Alpharetta.
“I love Coach Sid. He is awesome. I love all of the girls that played volleyball with me. They are great. He is great. He gives the best advice. I hope they do well next year,” Perry said. “[Travel volleyball] is definitely a level up from high school. I love going up there. It is a great experience.”
