The Oconee Veterans Memorial Foundation, Inc. will host a Veterans Day program at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at the veteran’s memorial in Oconee Veterans Park.

The program includes recognition of all veterans in attendance and a traditional laying of wreaths. Retired Marine Corps Veteran CWO4 Ray Fairman will serve as the guest speaker, sharing his 46 years of experience in military and civilian law enforcement. Fairman also served as a Toys for Tots coordinator.

Veterans organizations are encouraged to set up display tents and tables to highlight resources for veterans. Individuals owning refurbished military vehicles and equipment are encouraged to display them beginning at 10 a.m. The Rev. John Andrew Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will provide refreshments.

The foundation will present an additional nine names to the North Wall of Honor and announce room for the final 55 Wall of Honor names that will be added to the wall prior to Memorial Day 2018, at which time the Foundation will conclude the Honor Our Patriots capital campaign.

General donations are sought to provide for the maintenance of the memorial grounds. All proceeds from the Honor Our Patriots campaign offset construction and maintenance of the wall.

Partial funding for the project is made possible through the sponsorship of the Rev. John Andrew Chapter, Oconee State Bank, Wells Fargo, Oconee Foundations, LLC, Ruppert Landscape and other Friends of the Memorial.

The Wall of Honor tiles and a complete list of nominees to date will be available for review at the ceremony.
