Check on unresponsive couple leads to drug charges in Jackson County

A 911 call that two people were unresponsive inside a vehicle parked near Jefferson recently led to the arrests of two people on felony drug charges, according to a Jackson County sheriff’s report.

Police were called at about 5:40 a.m. Dec. 26 to a location on Brockton Road, where a witness saw the vehicle and unsuccessfully attempted to awaken a man and woman inside, deputies said.

The deputy arrived and called for an ambulance, and while the deputy was attempting to unlock the car door, the man, who was in the driver’s seat, awakened and opened the door, according to the report.

The woman also woke up. She told the deputy that she and her boyfriend were in an argument, she could not explain why they were at this location, according to the report.

The vehicle was searched and deputies reported finding baggies of methamphetamine, syringes, scales and other drug-related objects.

Stefan Charles Reagin, 31, of Carlton, and Jamie A. Reed, 22, of Hull were both charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of drug-related objects, and loitering. Reed, who also provided an address in Ludowici, was charged with giving a false name.
