Cedar Shoals to honor inaugural class of Alumni Hall of Fame

Vascular surgeon Dr. David Sailors is one of 13 Cedar Shoals graduates who will be inducted into the school's new Alumni Hall of Fame.

Cedar Shoals High School will induct 13 members into the inaugural class of its Alumni Hall of Fame on Saturday.

The induction will be celebrated with a ceremony and breakfast at 9 a.m. in the school’s commons area, and will honor alumni who have done extraordinary things both athletically and academically, according to CSHS Quarterback Club President Charles Turner.

“A lot of good things and good people have come out of Cedar Shoals High School,” Turner said. “We feel like we should honor the good people.”

The event celebrates a wide range of CSHS alumni and their achievements — from Super Bowl winner Tyrone Davis to vascular surgeon Dr. David Sailors.

Turner added that the Alumni Hall of Fame serves a dual purpose: honoring the alumni inductees while also inspiring current students.

“We hope that it will be something positive for the kids to see what they can accomplish if they put their minds to it,” he said.

The names and photographs of the 13 inaugural inductees will go on display in the school’s gymnasium, where they’ll be joined by future members of the hall of fame.

“This is something positive,” Turner said. “We want it to continue, and we want to watch it grow.”

Tickets for the induction ceremony and celebration breakfast can be purchased for $20 at the door or in advance by calling Turner at (706) 424-2368.
