Jefferson driver charged after hitting, killing woman in Arcade

A Jackson County woman was killed Sunday in Arcade when she was hit by a car whose driver fled the scene, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Troopers identified the victim as Christina D. Hamilton, 27.

The crash was reported about 2:15 a.m. on Georgia Highway 82 inside the Arcade city limits, troopers said.

Witnesses and debris at the scene provided investigators with clues that led to the arrest of the suspect, who drove off in a 1999 GMC Sierra after hitting the woman, according to the patrol.

Troopers charged Zachary W. Partee, 25, of Hightower Trail, Jefferson, with DUI, hit and run, and felony first-degree vehicular homicide.

Partee remained in the Jackson County Jail on Monday with bond set at $17,800.

The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Crash Reconstruction Team is assisting in the investigation.
