A Watkinsville man was transported to an Athens hospital Thursday following a three-vehicle wreck on Epps Bridge Parkway, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The wreck occurred shortly before 10 a.m. when a Honda Accord traveling east in the westbound lane crashed into the rear section of a roll-back wrecker and then careened into a Chevrolet pickup, according to Trooper Cpl. C.E. Parker.

The wrecker and pickup had exited the Athens Perimeter and were turning left off the ramp toward the westbound lane of Highway 316, Parker said.

“The passenger side of the Honda Accord was torn off in the collision with the tow truck,” Parker said.

The Honda driver, Raymond Rossi, 74, of Watkinsville initially refused medical treatment, but at the Oconee County Jail an ambulance took him to a hospital.

Rossi will face charges as a result of the wreck, according to the patrol.
