ESP raffles off Mustang

Extra Special People announced the winner of its 2017 Ford Mustang GT Raffle at the Oconee Fourth of July spectacular. Larry Gill was named the winner of the Fanmobile raffle. “This is the best thing that’s happened to me in a while. I’ve been dreaming about that Mustang,” Gill said. The winner was announced at Oconee Veterans Park. ESP’s executive director, Laura Whitaker, shared what this raffle means to ESP: “At ESP, magic is happening every day for children and adults, with disabilities programs that allow them to engage, connect, and thrive. Each person who purchased a raffle ticket is helping our participants thrive.” Gill was selected from the over 3,500 tickets sold.

The raffle raised over $50,000 to support ESP’s mission. The Fanmobile rallied together ESP’s supporters from the parents who sold tickets, to the neighbors who bought tickets, to the businesses who sponsored the raffle. The raffle will provide scholarships and transportation for low income campers who may have never experienced the magic of ESP before. They may spend a night away from home for the first time or participate in arts and crafts with their peers because of this raffle and the generous individuals who participated in it. The raffle means 100 more weeks of camp for individuals who have attended ESP their whole life and feel that ESP is a second home. The raffle offsets the costs of increased service and allows families to continue to pay no more than 25 percent.
