Athens-Clarke County hosts donation drive for homeless

Athens-Clarke County employees are hosting a drive to gather supplies to help the homeless.

Project Take Care is asking for donations of toothbrushes, toothpaste, moist towelettes, sealable storage bags, deodorant, hand sanitizers, bar soaps, shampoo, tissue packets, Band-Aids and other toiletries. Travel sizes of these items are preferred.

The donation drive began Friday and lasts until Aug. 7. Drop-off locations are in the front lobbies of the Athens-Clarke County Police Department at 3035 Lexington Road, the Human Resources Department at 375 Satula Avenue and Landscape/Facilities Management at 2555 Lexington Road.

After all the donations are collected, public safety officers will package the supplies into kits, and distribute some of them and give others to The ARCH Village, a homeless shelter in Athens.
