Nominations for the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce’s LEAD Athens Class of 2018 are due April 3, according to an announcement this week from the chamber. Nomination forms are available online at http://bit.ly/2m2eXSa.
LEAD Athens is designed to develop effective leaders committed to building a vibrant community. The intense year-long program explores a myriad of topics including economic development, local industry, health care, government, secondary and higher education, the arts and more.
Participants learn about current issues and explore future challenges through monthly sessions and completion of a community project leading to a well-rounded LEAD Athens experience.
The time commitment for the LEAD Athens Class of 2018 includes a weekend retreat in Dillard, scheduled for July 21-23, followed by daylong – 8a.m. to 5 p.m. – sessions in Athens on Aug. 13, Sept. 14, Oct. 12, Nov. 9, Dec. 14, Jan 11, 2018, Feb. 8, 2018, and March 8, 2018. Attendance at retreat and monthly sessions is mandatory.
Tuition for LEAD Athens is $1,000 for nonprofit/government participants, $1,250 for Chamber members and $1,500 for non-Chamber members. Tuition is non-refundable, and is due by June 30. A limited number of scholarships are available, and scholarship requests up to $500 will be considered.
