Since Jane Bowen’s breast cancer diagnosis in 2005, she’s used her skills as a painter to give cancer patients and survivors hope through hand-painted china teacups.
Every month, Bowen donates teacups to the Piedmont Athens Regional Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support.
Bowen hopes cancer patients who receive her “cups of love,” as she calls them, see that the cups represent survival, providing them some hope through their treatment.
Since she’s began donating, Bowen has given away more than 3,000 cups of love to cancer patients in the Athens area and surrounding communities, with the help of china painters across the U.S. and even in other countries where she previously taught, including England.
