Athens-based Barberitos Franchising recently presented a $5,000 check to Extra Special People at the nonprofit organization’s facility in Watkinsville.
Established in 1987, Extra Special People offers social, functional and recreational activities that educate and engage children and young adults with disabilities ranging from cerebral palsy, autism spectrum, traumatic brain injury, Down syndrome and other developmental delays.
With ever-expanding after-school programs, weekend clubs, an eight-week long summer camp and family resources, ESP now reaches more than 250 children, with an ongoing dream of reaching every northeast Georgia family that has a need and a desire to help their special child grow and thrive.
Through Barberitos’ mission of “Bigger Than A Burrito,” Barberitos Franchising has been a long-time supporter of Extra Special People, sponsoring and participating in a variety of events including Big Hearts and Big Jump.
“Bigger Than A Burrito” represents Barberitos’ commitment to the community through various partnerships and giveback initiatives.
“It’s such a privilege to be able to help support Extra Special People’s great work,” Barber said. “The role they fill in our community is hugely important, and we all look forward to seeing their continued growth and impact in the future.”
