This week the Road to Roo competition begins again.

Local bands have been nominated to compete for a performance slot at Bonnaroo.A few Athens venues will host shows where three or four bands perform, and one winner will emerge from each performance.

The winning band moves on to the next round until, after six weeks of competition shows, one winning band gets the Bonnaroo spot.

This week, performances are at The Hedges on Tuesday and The Foundry on Wednesday.

Honeywheel, Tarnation and Walden compete at The Hedges, and one of those bands will be knocked out.

At The Foundry, Donker, The Albions and The Vinyl Suns perform. Two of those bands will advance.

Audience members who attend each show will vote for their favorite band.

Next, on March 6, Nowhere Bar will host Leaving Countries, J Kyle, Kelly Hoyle and William j. Barry. Two of those bands will advance.

On March 8, The 40 Watt Club will host Lucid Frequency, Nakd & The Verce, Trash Panda and Five Speed, two of which will be knocked out of the competition.

The rounds continue each week with the finale during the first week of April, which will pit the top Athens band against the top Atlanta band.

The competition is sponsored by Power 100.1, 103.7 Chuck FM and 106.1 and 107.1 Your Georgia Country.
