Hill-Sudduth Wedding

LaVerne and Mel Hill, of Athens, are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter, Erin LaVerne Hill, to Wesley Stryker Sudduth, son of Thomas D. Sudduth and Linda L. Sudduth, of Omaha, Neb.


The bride is the granddaughter of the late Moena Williamson, of Athens, and the late Mel and Belle Hill Sr., of Stone Mountain. She is a 2006 graduate of Clarke Central High School and a 2010 graduate of Johns Hopkins University, where she is currently completing a Master of Government Studies degree. She is the Director of Advocacy at DC SAFE in Washington, D.C., where she works with survivors of domestic violence.

The groom is the grandson of the late David and Jean Sudduth, of Greeley, Colo., and Louise and Rod Payne, of Powell, Wyo. He received his Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from Johns Hopkins University in 2010, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2015. He is currently an associate with the law firm Venable LLP in Washington, D.C.

The wedding was held at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, in Baltimore, Md., on August 15, 2015, with Father Marty Demek officiating. A reception and wedding dinner followed at the Johns Hopkins University Glass Pavilion.

The bride was escorted by her father. She was attended by Janna Draine as the Maid of Honor and by Evelyn Clark, Rasidat Adeduntan, Jessica Holden, Claire Michel, and Molly Ronan as bridesmaids. The bride wore an Oleg Cassini wedding dress with lace accents on the bodice and waist, a sweep train and a bead-embellished fingertip veil. She also wore a necklace, a gift from her parents, of silver filigree with set stones to represent her mother and grandmothers, and carried a bouquet of pink and white roses.

The groom was attended by his brother, David Sudduth, as Best Man, and also by his sister, Nicolette Wellington; the bride’s brother, Eli Hill; and Evan Chin and Santiago Arciniegas.

Music for the ceremony was provided by Michelle Sudduth, the groom's cousin. The bride and groom and their parents hosted a welcome party for wedding guests the evening before the wedding at the Stoneleigh Duckpin Bowling Lanes in Towson, Md.

The newlyweds spent their honeymoon at Disney World, in Florida. They currently reside in Arlington, Va.
