Wadley-West Wedding

Blakely Ellen Wadley and Lewis Marcus West III were united in marriage at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, in Athens. The Reverend Chuck Hodges officiated.


The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Loring Reynolds Wadley III, of Statham. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. Maurice Edward Benoit, of Duluth, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Loring Reynolds Wadley Jr., of Sarasota, Fla.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Marcus West Jr., of Sandersville. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Marcus West Sr., of Sandersville, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Radcliffe Poole, of Sparta.

Serving as her sister's matron of honor was Ashlyn Wadley Gioia, of Atlanta; Brenda Elizabeth Street, of Atlanta, was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were the groom's sister, Nancy West Hortman, of Virginia Beach, Va.; Abigail Smith Eckles, of Atlanta; Lisa Allene Fox, of Nashville, Tenn.; Megan McPherson Heusel, of Miami, Fla.; Jamie Ouzts Reese, of Albany; Laurens Bujold Steed, of Atlanta; and Kari Elizabeth Wiggins, of Augusta. The flower girl was the bride's niece, Eleanor Sarah Gioia.

The groom chose his father, Lewis Marcus West Jr., to serve as his best man. Groomsmen included his brother-in-law, Robert Patterson Hortman Jr., of Virginia Beach, Va.; Troy Delbert Bland, of Reidsville; James Robert Dickey, of Macon; David Whitlow Frost, of Atlanta; Brad Thomas Jolley, of Nashville, Tenn.; Jonathan Lloyd Smith, of Savannah; Benjamin Baxter Watkins IV, of St. Simons Island; Steven Turner Wisehart, of Atlanta; and Robert Marshall Wynne Jr., of Macon. The ring bearer was Robert West Hortman, nephew of the groom.

Scripture readings were given by Thomas Joseph Gioia, of Atlanta, brother-in-law of the bride. Program attendants were Holly Genette West, of Atlanta, cousin of the groom, and Sarah Grace Harris, of Sandersville. Ceremony music was performed by organist, Janis Maxwell; trumpeter, Brandon Craswell; violinist, Rachel Fischer; soloist, Deana Shuman; and the Collegetown Gospel Choir.

Following the ceremony, an outdoor reception was held at the Athens Country Club.

After a wedding trip to St. Lucia, the couple now reside in Macon.
