Kincaid-Shouse Wedding

Deborah and Philip William Kincaid, of Athens, are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter, Katherine Diane Kincaid, to U.S. Army Captain Kevin Martin Shouse, son of Sharon and Richard Shouse, also of Athens.


The bride is the granddaughter of Mary Frances Kincaid and the late James William Kincaid, of Lenoir, N.C.; and the late William Low Moore, Joan Moore Cook, and Virgil Wellborn Cook, all of Charlotte, N.C. Katherine received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Georgia and also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching degree. She is currently employed as an elementary school teacher in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The groom is the grandson of the late Almena and Noble Schwoeppe, the late Martin D. Zehnder, and the late Hattie and Newton Shouse Sr., all of Louisville, Ky. Captain Shouse received his Bachelor of Science in Political Science degree from the University of Mississippi (“Ole Miss”) and is currently commissioned within the U.S. Army as the Alpha 2-12 Field Artillery Commander at Fort Carson, Colo.

The wedding ceremony was held at the Athens First United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 19, 2014, with the Rev. Chuck Hodges and Deacon Jim Gaudin, of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, officiating. A reception followed at the Classic Center Atrium, in Athens.

The bride was attended by Nina Michelle Carter, of Atlanta, as Maid of Honor, and by her sisters, Jennifer Kincaid Adams, of Falls Church, Va., and Sarah Kincaid Moore, of Athens, as Matrons of Honor. Also attending were her bridesmaids, Christine Collins Boyd, of Austin, Texas; Carmen Ann P. Nichols, of Athens; Amy Shouse Russell, sister of the groom, of Cataula; Blair Mathison Rutledge, of Cartersville; and Pontaah Dadras Arbtan, of San Diego, Calif. The groom’s niece, Caroline Frances Russell, of Cataula, and the bride’s niece, Caitlin Rachael Adams, of Falls Church, Va., were the flower girls.

The groom’s Best Man was his father, Richard Dent Shouse, of Athens. Also attending were his groomsmen, Richard Michael Shouse, brother of the groom, of Athens; Nicholas Cody Barber, of Athens; Tyler Joseph Evans, of Asheville, N.C.; Carlo William Finley, of Athens; Colin Paul Bowker, of Kenai, Alaska; and Captain Philip Luther Turner, of Ft. Knox, Ky. The groom’s nephews, Benjamin Joseph Russell and Joshua Robert Russell, of Cataula, served as the ring bearers.

Maggie Packer, of Athens, served as the greeter. A reading was given by Alai Tseggai, of San Francisco, Calif., and scripture was presented by the bride’s cousin, Ann Henderson Moore, of Charlotte, N.C. The bride’s brothers-in-law, Michael Craig Adams, of Falls Church, Va., and Issac Benjamin Moore, of Athens, and the groom’s brother-in-law, Benjamin Douglas Russell, of Cataula, served as ushers. Special guests included the bride’s godmother, Diane Moore Pernell, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and the bride’s cousin, Melinda Moore Tesar, of Portland, Ore.

The groom’s parents, Sharon and Richard Shouse, hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Foundry Park Inn. A bridal luncheon at East-West Bistro was given by the bride’s cousin, Ann Moore.

The newlyweds celebrated their marriage by spending two weeks in Scotland, England, and France. They now reside in Colorado Springs, Colo.
