An Athens man was arrested Wednesday night for driving a scooter under the influence of alcohol.
According to the police report, police made contact with the man and his passenger after officers noticed the passenger was not wearing a helmet.
The driver was slow to provide officers with identification, and when he did it was discovered that he had a suspended driver’s license, the report noted.
Police say that while arresting the driver for driving on a suspended license they noticed the smell of alcohol on his breath.
The driver was then subjected to a field sobriety test, which he failed, the report noted.
The suspect was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license and DUI. His passenger, an Athens woman, was cited for not wearing a helmet.
