Larry Daniel Dorsey, 35, of Broadacres Court was arrested Tuesday when found in possession of multiple bags of marijuana, Athens-Clarke County police said.
Officers were on patrol in the area of Vine and North Peter streets at about 4:50 p.m. when one of the officers saw Dorsey driving a car and suspected the man had active arrest warrants, police said.
After receiving confirmation that Dorsey was wanted on warrants, the officers turned around and began searching the area, police said.
Police said they found Dorsey walking on Conrad Drive, where they detained and searched him. A plastic bag containing 17 smaller bags of pot was located in the man’s pants leg and Dorsey had on him more than $500 in various denominations, according to police.
He was arrested for possession with intent to distribute marijuana and then taken to jail, where he was booked in on that charge and two counts of violation of probation, according to the Clarke County Jail’s website.
