Athens woman arrested for attacking leaving boyfriend

A 24-year-old Athens woman was arrested last week for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend as he was trying to leave their relationship, Athens-Clarke County police said.

As the alleged victim was heading toward the door, the woman reportedly tackled him and the victim broke the door’s knob and chain while trying to get away, police said. She allegedly punched the victim in the face after he got to his truck and put his belongings in the vehicle, according to police.

She was charged under the state Family Violence Act with battery, police said.
