William Rutherford Harris, 52, of Arnoldsville was arrested Sunday night after he crashed his pickup into a ditch at Morton and Belmont roads, Athens-Clarke County police said.
Harris had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath and was unable to complete some roadside sobriety tests, police said.
The officer noted in his report that the bed of Harris’s truck held a “large assortment of various empty beer cans.”
The results of two breath tests indicated his blood-alcohol content was .188 percent, according to police.
Harris was charged with DUI, failure to obey a traffic-control device and operating an unregistered vehicle.
