Athens panhandler brags of $4,000 haul

Lawrence Jerome Jurca, 47, of Pamela Drive was arrested Monday evening after he was seen soliciting money near the Athens Perimeter ramps at Oconee Street, Athens-Clarke County police said.
Jurca reportedly told the arresting officer that he made $7 in the short time he’d been at that location that day, “but he also bragged that he makes $4,000 a month by holding a sign and hustling people,” according to the officer’s report, which further stated Jurca claimed to scam people by telling them he was homeless when he actually does have a home.
