Armed man pulls residential robbery in Athens

An Athens-Clarke County police officer was dispatched early Friday morning to a Coleridge Court residence for an armed robbery that had just occurred. A man and a woman at the house told the officer they were in the house when a man knocked on the door. When the woman opened the door, she saw that the man had two handguns.

The man pointed the guns at them and told them to give it up. The male victim said he pulled about $100 from his pants pocket and threw it at the man. The man grabbed the money and ran toward a nearby business. The victims said the man had been hanging around all day at another Coleridge Court residence.

The officer went to that residence and a woman told him her childs father man had been there earlier but had left 30 minutes before and that she didnt know his whereabouts. Witnesses told the officer they saw the suspect when he came running out of the residence.

The case remains under investigation.
